NSDA

NSDA, formerly known as NSDC, represents a growing network of 8,000 special districts across the country.

What is the National Special Districts Association?

Organized in 2018, a group of five state special districts associations in California, Colorado, Florida, Oregon and Utah established a memorandum of understanding aimed to share resources, best practices and openly network to identify solutions to common problems for special districts across state lines. In 2021, the association expanded its mission to include federal advocacy for special districts to receive equitable access to critical programs available to local governments.

NSDA brings together associations, organizations, and businesses that each represent and support special districts across the country. Uniting special districts and stakeholders as one voice, NSDA fosters strong national collaboration to strengthen and advance essential community service that enhances American communities' quality of life.

Why has SDA Joined in the Founding of the Association?

The National Special Districts Association's mission is to unite the national voice of over 40,000 special districts to empower state associations and district leaders to effectively serve their communities. The association aims to ensure special districts have a strong voice in Washington, DC, and to influence positive outcomes on critical federal policies and funding programs, which often flow through states. NSDA is a stakeholder in federal discussion regarding local government policies, serving to promote awareness and solidify understanding among federal legislators and executive branch officials of what special districts are, why districts exist, how they operate, and their importance in thousands of communities across the country.

Likewise, NSDA provides the latest information on legislative topics of importance to special districts, aimed to arm districts with the information and resources needed to advocate locally and connect with their federal representatives. The Association also shares updates on recent federal funding opportunities for special districts and offers tools for successful grant applications.
