The SDA Annual Conference will kick off this year with the inaugural class of the SDA University. This all day session will be held Wednesday, September 22, 2010, and includes topics such as:

  • Financing 101 and TABOR
  • Key Steps in Conducting a Successful Public Vote
  • Board Dynamics
  • The Benefits of Collaboration
  • Dealing with PR nightmares
  • An Introduction to Governmental Immunity and Ethics
  • Insurance Issues
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Elections and Campaigns

Our luncheon session will also include a special presentation and roundtable discussion with Dr. Michele Haney, president of Red Rocks Community College and Dr. Geri Anderson, vice president and provost of Colorado Community College Systems.

Their session, titled “Workforce Development- Colorado’s Community Colleges Partnering With Special Districts,” will be a MUST ATTEND, for any special district looking to hire qualified workers or wanting to provide additional training for current employees.

Red Rocks Community College is currently 2nd in the nation for offering OSHA training opportunities, and they provide programs in Water Quality Management Technology, Fire Science and Protection Technology, Wind Energy Technology, EMS, Physician Assistant and Emergency Management and Planning. In addition to offering on campus training, they also can offer onsite training for districts.

The SDA University is “a can’t miss” way to start off your 2010 SDA Conference experience, so mark it on your calendar now. Registration for the Wednesday session will be available online along with the conference registration form at the end of July.
