These workshops will help you navigate through the tricky waters of special district governance and management.

June 23 – Gypsum

Who should attend?

New Board Members: The best possible orientation for newly elected or appointed Board Members. Start out on the right foot with an understanding of the laws, duties, and functions of this important new office.

  • Experienced Board Members: Keep up on new developments in the laws and issues affecting special districts.
  • Managers, Staff and Advisors: Managing a special district is a complicated matter. This workshop is planned to help you keep up on critical issues, and for you to be able to ask outstanding experts those questions that keep creeping up.

4:15–5:30—BONUS Session—Board/Staff Development, featuring J. Evan Goulding.

  • Boards, staffs, and the conflicts that can surface and plague a special district.
  • Working with Volunteers
  • Hiring and/or Firing Pitfalls

Please note the timing for the BONUS Session is 4:15–5:30 in response to members who work outside of their responsibilities as a Board Member or Staff member of a special district. This extended timing will allow for question and answer time—this is a great time to get help with your individual district problems.
