SDA Provides Designated Election Official (DEO) Training Online for Your Convenience

Publication Date:
February, 2012

The Board of Directors of a special district is authorized to designate a Designated Election Official to conduct the district’s election. However, just what does that mean to you and your district? Who trains the Designated Election Official (DEO) on the responsibilities of that position?

SDA and the law firm of Collins Cockrel and Cole have teamed up to provide your district’s DEO with training to maintain the district’s compliance with the Secretary of State’s office and ensure that your election meets the requirements of Colorado’s election code for special districts in Colorado.

Areas to be covered include:

  • Call for nominations and election cancellation
  • TABOR considerations
  • Mail ballot election
  • Polling Place election
  • Post Election duties

SDA and Collins Cockrel and Cole have complied five training modules that are easily accessible through SDA’s website to be used at your convenience. Simply go to www.sdaco.org and click on the “Resources Tab”.
