Inaugural Class of the SDA University...

SDA proudly presents the inaugural class of the SDA University. This helpful all day program will benefit new and “not so new” board members and special district staff members with the ins and outs for successfully operating a special district.

Attendees will participate in an all day pre-conference event on Wednesday, September 22, 2010. Training topics will include:

  • Board Member Duties and Responsibilities
  • District Rules and Regulations/Policies and Procedures
  • Meeting Rules/When and how to call an Executive Session
  • The “ins and outs” of financing for special districts
  • A no nonsense view of liability and insurance for special districts
  • Taxing and Operations for special districts
  • How to read a financial statement...and make sense of it!

Programming...

The three-day program will give Conference goers the most up-to-date information on the upcoming Amendments 60, 61 and 101.The SDA Annual Conference always presents the very best keynote speakers, and this year is no exception!
 
Doug Lipp will kick off the conference with a high-energy presentation on overcoming challenges and developing leadership skills. Mr. Lipp is the former Head of Training at Disney’s Corporate Headquarters, and developed leadership courses for Disney executives, as well as working on the team who created Tokyo Disneyland.
 
Thursday’s line up will include Former Denver Broncos player and accomplished novelist, Reggie Rivers, who will share his unique experiences with us at the luncheon. The evening’s banquet will debut a “Dancing with the Special District All Stars” competition and professional dancers exhibition.
 
Friday morning opens with the dynamic Ruby Newell-Legner who has decades of experience helping organizations build positive relationships between management and staff. Our final keynote speaker, Tim Gard, is guaranteed to keep you laughing through Friday’s lunch with his blend of positive motivation and humor.
