Governor Ritter Signs HB 10-1243 Today

Governor Ritter signed HB 10-1243 into law today at a ceremony in Pueblo. SDA worked with legislators and other interested groups in drafting this piece of legislation, and thanks Governor Ritter for his continued support of special districts and his commitment to collaboration between local governments.

HB 1243 concerns “the powers of a special district that provides transportation-related services, and, in connection therewith, authorizing a special district that provides such services to levy a voter-approved sales tax and to join a regional transportation authority.” The bill was sponsored by Representatives McFadyen, Massey, May, Scanlan, Gerou, Merrifield and Tyler, as well as, Senators Gibbs, Tapia, Williams, Bacon, Boyd, Foster and Newell.

“This bill gives unincorporated metropolitan districts like Pueblo West and Colorado City the ability to go to the voters -- just like cities and counties can -- to improve transportation infrastructure,” said Rep. McFadyen, who attended today’s bill signing.
