The Colorado State Department of Education(CDE) has released the new social studies standards that places a larger emphasis on local government and the need for informed citizenship.

The new standards have presented an opportunity for local government to serve as a resource in the K-12classroom; helping our states youngest citizens understand the importance of local government.

The Special District Association (SDA) has partnered with the Colorado Municipal League and members of the educational community to create a local government education program that will help teachers easily access accurate local government lesson plans for Colorado students.

Currently, SDA is distributing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Curriculum Writers. Please feel free to distribute this RFP to anyone you feel might be qualified to write curriculum for this program.
