Text of S. 3194 Concerning Collective Bargaining Now Available

Recently, the United States Senate took one step closer to scheduling a vote on a mandatory collective bargaining bill, which would negatively impact local governments nationwide. Senate Bill 3194, also known as the Public Safety Employer-Employee Cooperation Act, was  re-introduced by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., under a Senate rule that allows the bill to come to the floor in as little as 48 hours after introduction, and without committee review.

Amendment Concerning GOCO funds Dies in Committee Today

HJR 10-1007 died today in the House Education Committee. HJR 10-1007 concerns an amendment to ArticleXXVII of the Constitution (the Great Outdoors Colorado Amendment). The language of the amendment would have allowed the general assembly to declare a state fiscal emergency, where all net Lottery proceeds would then be transferred to the State Education Fund. This piece of legislation would have had a major negative impact on GOCO and grants it provides to local governments.

SDA actively opposed HJR 10-1007

We have been informed by Great Outdoors Colorado, that they are aware of plans to introduce a measure that would ask voters to amend Article XXVII of the Constitution (the Great Outdoors Colorado Amendment). The language of this amendment indicates that if the general assembly declares there is a state fiscal emergency, all net Lottery proceeds would be transferred to the State Education Fund. SDA is opposed to this potential amendment.
