60, 61 and 101 Elected Officials Forum-Trinidad,CO

SDA Executive Director Ann Terry joined representatives from the Colorado Association of School Boards and The Colorado Municipal League for an Elected Officials’ Forum discussing the effect of Amendments 60, 61 and Proposition 101 on local governments. The event was held in Trinidad, CO and was hosted by Century Financial Group.

Conference Spotlight: Ruby Newell-Legner

 Friday’s breakfast at the 2010 SDA Conference will feature professional speaker and former Parks and Recreation District Center Specialist Ruby Newell-Legner. Ruby’s presentation, “Leadership Strategies: Things You Must Know to Survive,” will focus on new ways to work and lead. The effective leader will have developed new skills and talents for managing continuous change while balancing accountability. In this session, participants will examine the practical skills necessary to be an effective leader in today’s workplace.

Conference Spotlight: Annual Business Meeting Will Include Panel on 60, 61 and 101

This year the SDA Annual Business Meeting on Thursday, September 23, will also include a panel discussion on Amendments 60, 61 and Proposition 101. Presenters will include Peter Whitmore Esq. from Sherman & Howard L.L.C.; Rick Kron, Esq., Shareholder, Grimshaw &Harring; and Rick Reiter from the Don’t Hurt Colorado Campaign. These ballot issues would severely impact special districts if they were to pass.

Local elected officials are invited to attend an informational forum on the potential impact of the three November ballot initiatives on August 5th in Trinidad, CO.

The session will be held at the Holiday Inn at 3130 Santa Fe Trail Dr. in Trinidad, CO from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm, and dinner will be provided at no charge to attendees.

SDA is excited to welcome Keynote Speaker, author and former Denver Bronco, Reggie Rivers to the 2010 SDA Annual Conference.

In his presentation titled “Overcoming Obstacles,” Reggie will discuss how attitude and effort, have defined his opportunities, success and happiness.
